At 4:10 p.m. EST on September 22, 2000, Jim Phillips, George Pence, Mark Morgan, Mike & Linda Corley, & J Ray Davis sighted a grey phase gyrfalcon at Hanging Rock Raptor Observatory. It was the first ever sighted in West Virginia.
